If I were to create a podcast, it would probably be a non fiction podcast. I would do it in an oral storytelling format. In “The New Digital Storytelling: Creating Narratives with New Media” by Brian Alexander, he quotes Gardner Campbell who says “ There is magic in the human voice, the magic of shared awareness. Consciousness is most persuasively and intimately communicated by voice.” (Alexander; p. 82) For me the single speaker format would be easiest, then I could do it on my own time and not have to worry about coordinating time with other people. That is not say that I wouldn’t interview people or find someone who knows information on a topic I choose, though.
My podcast would be about everyday things such as the benefits of essential oils and their uses. I would choose different topics like health related information, gardening, like which plants to plant when and how to take care of them, and even handy how to information that would make life easier.
I could choose a different theme or topic every week or month and go with that and do do a few different episodes on that given topic.
I have thrown this idea around for awhile, but never seriously and I certainly haven’t taken the time to delve into it or put forth effort, but who knows...maybe one of these days I will have my own podcast!

  1. I like the idea of doing singular speaking podcasts and bringing in guests at my own will.
